Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information WisePocket (www.wisepocket.co.za) collects, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What you type into our calculators

The figures you enter into our calculators, budget planner and savings challenge are processed in your own browser. Some tools save them in your browser’s local storage on your device, so they are there when you return. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them. You can clear them with the Clear buttons or by clearing your browser data.

Alerts sign-ups

If you sign up for alerts, we collect your email address or WhatsApp number, the alert you signed up for and the date you gave consent. We use it only to send you those alerts. We never sell or share it. You can ask us to remove you at any time, and we will do so.

Information collected automatically

• Server logs: our web host records basic technical information such as IP address and browser type to keep the site running and secure.
• Analytics: we may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which tools are useful. It uses cookies and does not tell us who you are.
• Advertising: if we show ads from Google AdSense or similar networks, they may use cookies to show relevant ads. You can manage ad personalisation in your Google account settings.
• Fonts: our fonts load from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
